Conquest Martial Arts

"Keeping Peace Through Movement"

Dojo History

Conquest Martial Arts Studio has been a successful business since 2003. Its teaching curriculum was first introduced as an after school activity at Malow Jr. High School, in Shelby Twp. Michigan. The program was called the “Karate Club” it was a big success, with over 40 students enrolled in the program accepting donations only. During the summer of 2004 Sensei K’waun Conquest decided to continue his teachings and would offer private and group lessons at his house with a cap of no more then five students at a time. That summer turned the idea of the “Karate Club” into a whole new venture. Sensei K’waun spent most of his time teaching private and group lessons and did not have the time to return back to teaching at Malow Jr. High School, because of the huge demand for his five student group lessons. Pulling students in from other schools, neighborhoods, and cities, this went on for a couple years and the “Karate Club” was taking off, slowly becoming what is now Conquest Martial Arts Studio. Sensei K’waun had to cut back some of his teachings and focus more energy and time on getting a business plan together for Conquest Martial Arts Studio, Sensei K’waun eventually put his teachings on hold and  put his whole mind on creating better classes and making Conquest Martial Arts Studio one of the best martial art schools around.

Conquest Martial Arts Studio became the official business name in 2006. To launch the new venture Sensei K’waun hosted many child karate and adult self defense seminars at local churches, corporations, and local halls. While still offering private and group lessons, Conquest Martial Arts Studio has helped sponsor “Polaroid Kid Care” events to help prevent child abduction. Conquest Martial Arts Studio has hosted numerous “Women’s Abuse & Self Defense” seminars with guest speakers from Turning Point. Conquest Martial Arts Studio has also had a proclamation signed by the Michigan State Governor help bring awareness to “National Martial Arts Day” a day to bring awareness to the many benefits of martial arts and to help steer teens in the right directions and prevent juvenile crime across America.

Today, Conquest Martial Arts Studio has found a hombu dojo (home location) in Shelby Twp, Michigan. While still hosting many seminars out in the community for adult protection, self defense, kid’s karate, and overall health, and satellite programs for kids to learn karate, Conquest Martial Arts Studio has a full schedule of classes you can find at the hombu dojo as well, where Sensei K’waun is still teaching.
